MEET PETER DURFEE
Born and raised in Chico, Peter Durfee’s roots in Butte County run deep.
In 2008, Peter joined the ranks of the Chico Police Department, following a career as a baseball umpire where he officiated League Championship Series, All-Star, and Major League Baseball games.
As a Chico Police Officer, Peter has proudly served his fellow Chico residents and has been recognized for his distinguished service to them. In 2016, Peter was honored as Chico Police Officer of the Year, and in 2021 he received the prestigious Lifesaving Medal Award for taking decisive action to save a human life.
Promoted to Sergeant in 2021, Peter also serves as a Hostage Negotiator, Crisis Intervention Instructor, Field Training Officer, and Instructor at the Butte College Law Enforcement Academy. In addition, as a former School Resource Officer, Peter worked with students and staff in our schools to help ensure a safe learning environment.
When Peter is not serving and protecting Chico residents, he enjoys spending time with his wife Tamra and their daughter Grace. Peter is also the Founder and Chairman of the Lance Utterback Memorial Golf Tournament and a former member of the Chico Leadership Board of Directors for the Boys and Girls Club of the North Valley and the Chico Elks Lodge.
